Large warehousing solution: Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS)

Release time:2024-05-08

In industries like, automobile manufacturing, cold chain, e-commerce logistics, food and beverage, non-ferrous metals, new energy, papermaking, cosmetics, clothing, more large companies choose to build three-dimensional machine pallet racking, which is with high automation and low labor costs.

This warehousing system is composed of narrow channel high-rise racks, stackers, conveyor line platforms and computer control systems.

Between every two rows is an lane, and a stacker is installed in the lane. It can move horizontally on the track or vertically on its own column to complete the storage and retrieval of goods. The weight range of materials in the turnover box is between 30-1500Kg; Height of the warehouse is usually 6m-22m, and its length and width are not limited. Especially when it is for intensive storage situation of high-rise, long and heavy goods, it is more efficient and cost-saving.

Stacker: used for automatic storage and retrieval of goods. To the structure, it can be divided into two basic forms: single column and double column; according to running mode of warehouse, it can be divided into straight lane, curved lane and transfer vehicle. One stacker crane is responsible for one lane.

Conveyor system: Common ones include roller conveyors, chain lifts, distribution trucks, elevators, belt conveyors, etc.

Warehouse management system (WMS): capable of managing a complete system from ordering, design, production arrangement, manufacturing, assembly, testing, shipping, etc. Cooperate with sensors, cameras, RFID and other equipment to monitor goods, equipment and the environment in real time.

The main issues faced by modern warehouses are to reduce costs, reduce manual intervention, and improve the level of automation, and environmental and economic benefits.

1. Utilization of land: ASRS racking system can maximize the rational use of space, increasing  number of goods stored per unit land area by more than ten times.

2. Accurate and fast operating time: fully automated process, high operating accuracy. Use advanced control system, communication and information technology to coordinate the entry and exit of goods. Combining advanced warehouse management systems (WMS) and IOT technology, goods can be monitored, tracked and dispatched in real time. Taking e-commerce warehousing as an example, orders can be shipped out of the warehouse in 30 minutes.

3. More accurate and efficient warehouse management: ending manual management of ledgers. Account and other information are stored through computers. Especially in terms of inventory, automated warehouses can control inventory at a more reasonable and economical level. Under the premise of the same commodity turnover, the inventory of automated warehouses is the smallest.

4. Conducive to the storage of products: In large warehouses, there are usually many goods in large quantities and varieties. In ASRS warehouse, goods are stored in pallets or boxes, making  handling operation safer and more reliable, and avoiding damage to the packaging of goods and loose packages.

Warehouses that automated racking are more suitable: Frequent and balanced entry and exit of goods. The frequency of in and out of goods should not fluctuate too much, otherwise long pause or frequent fluctuations in warehouse operations will not be conducive to the effectiveness of the automated warehouse.

Floor load-bearing capacity: as for it is a high-rise racking system, the floor load-bearing capacity of the warehouse is several times greater than that of an ordinary warehouse. Before building ASRS warehouse, Technical staff should consider the geological conditions of the location where the warehouse is to be built.
